Clarence Dirk Duinick was born October 26, 1920 in Rose Hill, Iowa , the son of Arnold and Bessie DeKraii Duinick. He had four sisters and a brother Alvie, who was killed in a truck-train accident in 1943. Clarence's folks moved to Lynnville where he attended country school. He fought in WWII and served in Germany, Italy and Africa. On September 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Watts of Barnes City at her parent's home. The couple made their home in Montezuma where they raised their son, Marlyn. He worked for a number of years at International Harvester in Montezuma and retired from the Rolscreen Company in Pella. Clarence was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alvie Duinink.
Clarence is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Evelyn; his son, Marlyn (Nickie) Duinink of Montezuma; four sisters: Pearl Felton of Marshalltown, Lucille Bogard of New Sharon, Martha Bogard of Oskaloosa, Nellie Nelson of Bondurant; a sister-in-law, Vema Gilbreaith of Sloan; four grandchildren: Betty (Perry) Hartzell of Breda, Robbie Moore of Carroll, Teresa (Chris) Lavender and Sally (Stuart Gardner) Moore both of Marshalltown; ten great grandchildren: Dillon, Matthew, Michael, Ashley, Jeremy, Elisa, Melissa, Karlee, Amanda and Madison. Clarence was also blessed with seven great-great grandchildren.
Clarence was a very good natured man whom I enjoyed cutting his hair. In the last year I would go to Clarence's home and visit with Evelyn while cutting his hair. Clarence could be a humorus at times and that made him an interest man. I'll miss Mr. Duinink
