Dorothy Williams Ottumwa. Dorothy Williams, 79, formerly of Ottumwa, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Weslaco, TX. Funerals services will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Liberty Cemetery near Montezuma. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Dorothy Louise Williams was born on September 30, 1930 in Montezuma, Iowa. The daughter of James and Ethel Martin Johnson. She was a 1947 graduate of the Montezuma High School. Dorothy attended the Ottumwa Beauty Academy before beginning her life long career as a Beautician. She owned and operated Dorothy's Beauty Salon for 25 years in Ottumwa. Dorothy also worked as a beautician at Marshall Field's as well as an instructor at a beauty school in Chicago. She was married to Jack Palmer in 1955. To this union one son was born, Steve. In 1982 she was united in marriage to Michael Williams. The couple resided in Albia before moving to Alamo, Texas. Dorothy was a member of the Pickwick Church of Christ in Ottumwa.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Michael of Alamo, Texas; one son, Steve (Rhonda) Palmer of Ottumwa; one step-son, Michael (Barbara) Williams Jr. of Spring Water, NY; two step-daughters, Beverly (David) Kooker of Albia and Barbara Wignall of Portland, OR; three sisters, Rachel (Walter) Daugherty of Vandalia, Iowa, Pauline El of Montezuma and Marilyn (Wendell) Hardeman of Fayetteville, AR. She also leaves behind eight step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and two step-great grandchildren, Samuel and David Lokenvitz.
