Kay Biggs, 86, of What Cheer, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Manor House in Sigourney. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be in the Sixteen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 4 :00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Anita Kay Biggs was born on August 5, 1937 to Sam and Ada McKay Carmer at her home in Gibson.  She attended school in Gibson and was united in marriage to Howard Stephenson on November 22, 1952 in Sigourney.  They became the parents of two sons, Randy and Tom. She later married Albert Biggs in 1973, in Las Vegas.  Kay worked as a nurse's aide in Phoenix before moving back to the Sigourney area where she worked at the Sigourney Hospital and later at the University of Iowa Hospital in janitorial service.  She also worked at the Gibson Café before becoming a full-time grandmother.  Kay enjoyed card games, dominoes, her Siamese cat, figure 8 races and most of all, her grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her son, Tom (Doneta) Stephenson; her grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Stephenson, Meagan (Chris) Shoff, Heidi (Tyler) Thomas, Joe Stephenson and Nikki Stephenson; her great grandchildren, Haley (Trevor) Frazier, Sydnie (Brennen) Grimm, Cole Stephenson, Lillian, Lexis, Lyvia and Brinley Stephenson, Caden and Aubree Campbell, Addison and Archer Thomas, Sophie and Maxwell Shoff, and a great great granddaughter, Scout Frazier and many other friends and relatives.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert; two sisters, Dorothy Bos and Rose Holland; a brother, Donald Carmer; her son, Randy Stephenson; and her grandson, Shane Stephenson.
