Barbara (Barb) Jean Schuur, age 70, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Brooklyn Community Estates. Her "party" will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, July 22, 2023 in the Montezuma Methodist Church Basement serving her favorite foods.

Barb loved her baby dolls, word searches and her Pepsi.  Barb enjoyed making friends where ever she went. Barb was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was special from the very beginning. She was 4 pounds when she was born and so special that her parents named their very first tow truck "Little Barbara".  This tow truck remains in the family. She lived in Lake George, Minnesota and Big Lake, Minnesota. Every year she would always come to Iowa to visit for an extended period of time.  Ten years ago, Barb moved to Montezuma, Iowa and has since called Iowa home.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Ranko and Icena Schuur, her twin brother who passed at birth, her brother Roger, Nephew Corky Schuur, and Great Nephew Justin Schuur.

Barb is survived by her two amazing sisters Virginia (Tony) Peterson of Mounds View, Minnesota and Nancy (Ron) Urfer of Montezuma, Iowa and her sister-in-law Joanne Schuur.  Although Barb never had any children of her own, her nieces and nephews were very much her "kids".  Her very special nephews and nieces Jerry (Terri) Peterson, Russ (Sheron) Peterson, Dale Peterson, Nate (Shannon) Urfer, Amanda (Curtis) Latcham, Krista (Eric) Mostek, Jeff Schuur, Jacqueline (Kyle) McCollor.  Barb is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express our thank you to the outstanding staff at Brooklyn Estates. They cared for Barb like she was family.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. Barb was always full of smiles and hugs.
