Benae Johnson, 63 of Searsboro and formerly of Montezuma passed away Friday morning, November 16, 2018 at her home in Searsboro due to cancer. Memorial graveside services will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. For those whom desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Care Initiatives Hospice and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home, P.O. Bo 727, Montezuma, Iowa 50171. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Benae Sue Johnson, the daughter of Raymond and Ada (Revell) Johnson, was born on April 15, 1955 in Grinnell, Iowa. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1973. Following high school, Benae was a waitress at Malzuma, Dickies and Brooklyn 80. In 1983, Benae enrolled at AIB College of Business in Des Moines receiving her Associates Degree in 1984. She worked awhile for Harvey Horn in Montezuma before starting her career with Grinnell Mutual in 1998. Benae was recently diagnosed with Cancer and continued to work and have a great attitude. She enjoyed cooking, doing puzzles and collecting any type of frog figurines. She was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her memory will be honored by her brothers, Marion (Marsha) Johnson of Garner, Iowa, Mike (Debbie) Johnson of Springfield, Illinois, Keith (Karen) Johnson of Meservey, Iowa and Rex (Candy) Johnson of Leland, Iowa; many other nieces, nephews and many friends.

Benae was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ada Johnson; a daughter, Denise Renae Johnson; a sister in infancy, Carol Beth Johnson; sister-in-law, Juanita Johnson and two nephews, Wesley Johnson and Scott Johnson.
