Bernie Molyneux, 92 of Gibson, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 10:30 am at the What Cheer Funeral Home in What Cheer, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the What Cheer Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Bernie's name.  Holland-Coble Funeral Home of What Cheer is in charge of the arrangements.

Bernard Wesley Molyneux was born on July 9, 1932, in Gibson, Iowa to Wesley and Hazel Phipps Molyneux.  Bernie attended and graduated from Gibson High School in 1950.  Bernie enlisted in the United States Army and after basic training was united in marriage to Elaine Middleton and to this union three daughters were born, Joyce, Julie and Kim.  He was soon sent to Korea for two years and worked in personal record keeping.  Bernie returned home after his honorable discharge and worked for What Cheer Clay Products for three years before becoming the manager of the Gibson Fertilizer Company for the next 45 years. Bernie also helped his brother, Lyle, farm for several years.  He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture in his spare time.  Bernie was very proud of his family and all they contributed.  Bernie was a hard worker and devoted to his family.  He believed in teaching his family to continue on and live the best life possible.  Bernie had a strong belief in Christ and encouraged everyone to forgive and forget, life is hard enough. Just work each day to make others' lives better. He was a member of the Gibson Presbyterian Church in Gibson and the Barnes City American Legion.

Bernie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; his daughter, Julie; his brothers, Lyle (Evelyn) Molyneux and infant brother, Leland Molyneux; his sister, Donna (Bob) Brock; and brother-in-law, Charles Kitzman.

He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Larry) Conrad and Kimberly (Cloyd) Clubb; his seven grandchildren, Trevor (Ashley) Conrad, Shannon (Michael) Meadows, Jordan Conrad, Aaron (Katy) Greene, Melissa (Jerry) Fairbank, Jesse Greene, and Emily Greene; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Jim) Johnson and Niesha Kitzman; and many other relatives and friends.
