Bonnie Rutherford, 73 of Montezuma passed away Saturday morning, October 17, 2020 at Mercy West Hospital in West Des Moines. Graveside funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. For those whom wish, a procession will form at the funeral home at 10:45 to go to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Specialty Care or the Montezuma Fire Department. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie Lou Rutherford, the daughter of Dale and Vera (Samuels) Darland, was born on October 31, 1946 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was a 1965 graduate of Montezuma High School. Bonnie then received her Junior Accounting Degree from AIB in Des Moines in 1966. She was married to Mick Talbert in April of 1966. To this union two children were born, Brent and Michele. Bonnie first worked at the Poweshiek County Courthouse for a short time. Mick then got a job in Hawaii so the couple moved there for a few months before moving to Solon and Hiawatha where they built a new home. While living in Hiawatha, Bonnie worked for Rockwell Collins for several years before moving to California to be closer to some of her family. While living in California, she worked at Daiwa Rod and Reel and drove a truck with her husband, Mick. In 1979, they moved back to Montezuma where Bonnie worked in the Poweshiek County Auto Department. Following her divorce, she moved to Oklahoma City and worked in the accounting department for a convenience store chain, Happy Foods and Tom Market and then she worked for Accessory Lady. She was then married to Gene Rutherford. They later divorced. Bonnie was then relocated to Dallas, Texas where she continued to work for Accessory Lady. She also held a job for Sally's Beauty Supply headquarters in Dallas. In 1989, Bonnie moved back to Montezuma and worked for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance before retiring due to health reasons after several years. Bonnie enjoyed riding her own motorcycle, crocheting, listening to country music, road trips, traveling and playing Bingo at the nursing home.

Her memory will be honored by her children, Brent (Nikki) Talbert of Montezuma and Michele (Tony) Benson of Montezuma six grandchildren, Dayton (Abbie Meyer) Pringle, Caleb Talbert, Mya Talbert, Reagan Talbert, Colton Benson and Luke Benson; and many other relatives and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Bev Darland Griffin and Gary Darland.
