Charles (Chuck) Olson, 72 of Ollie, died Friday, May 26, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa.  Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.  No visitation is planned.  Interment will be in the McFarlan Cemetery at What Cheer.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Condolences may be given to the family at www.hollandcoblefuneralhome.com.

Charles Erwin Olson was born in Cherokee, Iowa on September 2, 1950, the son of Mannie and Alice Geasland Olson.  Chuck was a 1969 graduate of North Mahaska High School and later received his degree from Indian Hills Community College in refrigeration, lock smith, and computer networking.  During his working career, he worked with Gary Fern's Construction, Crop Production Service, tractor-trailer operator, Rockwell Collins International, and eventually retired from Kinze Manufacturing in 2013.  Chuck was fond of his loyal friendship with his dog and had a passion for anything outdoors.  He was a gifted craftsman and was always building something for someone.  If Chuck called you a friend, you were a friend for life and anything that was his you were welcomed to.  He had traditional, old-school values and felt it necessary to pass on the knowledge taught to him from the older generations.  Chuck was recognized for his strong character.  He was a type of man that would command respect and found no value in beating around the bush or sugar-coating anything.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl Olson and Robert O'Bannon; and a sister JoAnn Olson.  He is survived by his sister Eleanor (Ellie) Thompson; three nephews, Charles (Crystal) Carman, Eric (Amanda) Carman, and Bobby Jo Carman.  He also leaves behind a great niece and nephew, Brianna and Dominick Carman.
