Charles Michael Hockey, age 68, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, creativity, and deep love for his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Capitol City Church; 5990 NE 14th St.; Des Moines, Iowa 50313 beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 18, 2026. Funeral services will be held at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm. A visitation will be held one hour before the service on Tuesday. Burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles Hockey Memorial Fund and may be sent to the funeral home to be given to the family at Holland-Coble Funeral Home; In Care of Charles Hockey; P.O. Box 727; Montezuma, Iowa 50171. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Born on April 7, 1958, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Chuck was the beloved son of Marilois Ludwick Hockey and Charles Eldred Hockey. Throughout his life, Chuck was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He served as assistant manager for Peterbilt and Kenworth truck dealerships in Altoona, Iowa, and also worked faithfully at Firestone and Maytag. He worked for the West Des Moines and Johnston School Districts before taking time off to focus on his health, later working for Hy-Vee locations in Ankeny and West Des Moines.

Chuck was a man of many talents and passions and would gladly share his interests with anyone who would listen. He found joy in cooking meals for those he loved, expressing himself through art, and taking great pride in his cherished car and Hot Wheel collections. He was a member of the Plymouth Car Club, Rolling Relics and enjoyed attending Good Guys every year. He was also a faithful member of Capital City Church. His hobbies reflected his creativity, attention to detail, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Above all, Chuck was devoted to his beloved wife, Janet, whose love and companionship were a cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a life rich with family, friendship, and treasured memories. Chuck will be deeply missed by Janet, his family, countless friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His laughter, generosity, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Chuck's memory will live on through the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the beautiful moments he created with family and friends.

Chuck's legacy will be cherished by his wife, Janet of Des Moines; two daughters, Sarah Hockey of Des Moines and Olivia (Morgan) Hockey of West Des Moines; his brother; Tim Hockey of Osceola; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marilois Hockey and a brother, Dan Hockey.

He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
