Colleen De Hoedt, 80 of rural Barnes City passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, March 31, 2020 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Private family burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montezuma Ambulance and sent to her husband, Duke De Hoedt, at P.O. Box 157, Lynnville, Iowa 50153. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Colleen De Hoedt, the daughter of Charles William and Della Thelma (Smith) Moore, was born on January 28, 1940 in New Sharon, Iowa. She attended country school through the eighth grade, earning her high school diploma through correspondence with the University of Chicago and attended Indian Hills Community College. On April 9, 1962, Colleen was united in marriage to Wayne Arthur "Duke" De Hoedt at the St. Joseph's Parsonage in Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union two children were born, James Duke "JD" and Jacqueline Danett. Colleen worked at the New Sharon Care Center, Sig Manufacturing and the Mahaska County Hospital from 1981 retiring in 2001.

Colleen will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always had a smile and positive outlook. She loved spending time with family especially her grandchildren. Some of her favorite times were simply helping her neighbor, Jamie; quilting days with Helen and Sue, picking berries with Wilma, gardening and baking. Words will never fully express how special she was to everyone.

Her legacy will be honored by her husband of 58 years, Duke De Hoedt of Barnes City; her children, JD (Linda) De Hoedt, of Lynnville and Jacki (John) Mobley of Jefferson, Iowa; her grandchildren, Spencer (Haley) De Hoedt, Randa De Hoedt, Garrett (Jade) De Hoedt, Jacob De Hoedt, Jasmine Mobley and John Mobley IV and her great grandson, Adler Duke De Hoedt. She is also survived by her brothers, Marvin Moore and Don Moore; her sister, June Den Hartog; her sisters-in-law, Helen De Hoedt and Hilda Moore and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Della Moore; siblings, Laverna Nelson, Joyce Eakins, Viola Lamb, Harold Moore, Jim Moore, Carolyn Thompson; in-laws, Jack Nelson, Gene Eakins, Bob & Aleta De Hoedt, Scott De Hoedt and Lee & Joan De Hoedt.
