David Henry, 74 of Barnes City passed away Saturday morning, August 5, 2023 at the Belle Plaine Specialty Care in Belle Plaine. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, August 11, 2023 at Community Hope Church in Montezuma.  Burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery following the luncheon at the church.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, beginning at noon with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Community Hope Church.  Memorials may be directed to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City.    Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of the arrangements.

David Lee Henry, the son of Edward and Josephine (Van Ersvelde) Henry was born on April 9, 1949 at Grinnell, Iowa.  He was a 1967 graduate of Montezuma High School and in 1969 was married to Linda McMahan.  They were the parents of two sons, Jonathan (JD) and Jason.  They later divorced.  He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971.  After returning home, he worked for the Barnes City Coop, Bob Haworth farms, and Sig. Manufacturing retiring in 2020. He was a member of the Barnes City Legion.  David enjoyed his family and their visits, along with trapping, was an avid hunter, enjoyed  slow pitch,  the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Cubs.

David is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward; an infant brother, Ronald and his sister, Nancy.

David is survived by his sons, Jonathan (Krystal) Henry of Virginia, and Jason (Steph) Henry of Belle Plaine, Iowa.  He also leaves behind three brothers, Charles (Bev) Henry and Donald (Janice) Henry of Montezuma, Michael (Diane) Henry of Barnes City; his three sisters,  Barbara (Roger) Flander of Grinnell, Donna Conklin of Orlando, Fl.,  and Agnes (Jeff Martin) Henry of Colorado Springs, Co.; grandchildren, Celeste, Dakota, Emmalee, Hunter, Brookelynn, Bryleigh, Braxton and Brickam;  special cousins, Jane and George Cline; and his best friend, his cat, Itty Bit; as well as many other friends and relatives.
