David Smith, 70 of rural New Sharon passed away peacefully at his home. As was David's wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer's Treatment of America and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home, in care of David Smith, P.O. Box 727, Montezuma, Iowa 50171. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

David Allen Smith came into this world 70 years ago and left it a few days ago. In the middle of those dates he lived. He married the loved of his life and had two kids. Those two kids had their kids and one of those made him a great grandpa. Although his grandkids would tell you he was already great! He made some memories with high school buddies and his in-laws. He deeply loved those memories he made with those he cared enough to make those memories with. He loved his mom, Navada, dad, Kenneth, two brothers, Kenny, Roger and his sister, Lu Ann. And if you asked, he make sure you knew it was his older sister. He loved Amy, Lonnie, Justin, Bayli, Lizzy, Lexi, Aurora, Nathan, Rebecca, Maggie, Randy, Brett, Rod, Chad, Brooke, Paul, Linda; his favorite sister-in-law, along with Kenny and Pam O' Deen.

David's advice:

1. When someone calls you, you answer. They cared enough about you to call.
2. Find a good mechanic, change your oil and check your tires. You can do it, it's not that hard.
3. Help someone because they need the help not because you have the time.
4. Get photos off your phone and reminisce often it make you appreciate what you have now.
5. After you look at those photos go make new ones.
6. Keep an eye out for selfish people, there has been a few who taken advantage of me and I don't what that for you.
7. Don't wish…Do.
8. All you need is a stick and a rock and a nice level swing and it will go far.
9. If you see someone that needs help don't ask; just jump in and help.
10. Everyday is a good day, weather doesn't matter.
11. Have best friends but not too many you only need the important ones.
12. Go fishing and cast it nice and smooth, go hunting and always make sure you pepper the new guys hat.
13. Say thank you. Be honest and don't lie the truth is always better the first time around.
14. Have fun but not at the expense of someone else.
15. Don't trust boys.
16. Don't look down when your walking you can't see anything down there plus you might walk into something.
17. Hug people you love.
18. never say you're bored there is always something to do.
19. And the last, fix your small problems before they become big ones, whether that's someone you know or your truck.
