As we remember Deborah's life, we invite those who wish to honor hermemory to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice in her name. This would be a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was defined by her love for all living things.

Deborah was born on August 24, 1946, in the serene landscapes of Iowa, Deborah was the cherished daughter of Rex and Mildred Strasser. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and gentle moments that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Deborah found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and her love for jigsaw puzzles was well-known among her family and friends. There was a quiet contentment in the way she would spend hours piecing together intricate puzzles, a testament to her patience and eye for detail. Her furry companions, her cats, were her constant cuddle partners, providing her with comfort and companionship. Deborah also had a special fondness for the squirrels that visited her porch, and she delighted in feeding them, finding joy in their playful antics.

In her professional life, Deborah dedicated 14 years as a housekeeper at the Super 8 Motel. Her work was a reflection of her meticulous nature and her commitment to providing a welcoming environment for all guests. Her colleagues remember her as a hardworking and dependable team member, whose presence brought warmth to their days.

On September 4, 1987, Deborah married the love of her life, Elmer Mommens. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories until Elmer's passing. Deborah was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Melinda Hiibel, whose memory she held dear every day of her life.

Deborah is survived by her stepdaughter, Sharon Raska, who, along with many friends and extended family, will miss her dearly. The legacy of love and kindness that Deborah leaves behind will be remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege to know her.

Deborah's presence will be sorely missed, but the love she gave so freely will continue to inspire and comfort us in the days to come. May her gentle soul rest in peace, enveloped in the love of those who have gone before her.
