Deb Hargis, 66 of Union Mills went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, December 4, 2024 at her home. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Union Mills Christian Church. Burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery at Union Mills. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Union Mills Christian Church Activities Building. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Mills Christian Church. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Debra Jane Hargis, the daughter of James and Carmen (Cummings) Kriegel, was born on November 7, 1958 in Grinnell, Iowa. She graduated from BGM High School with the class of 1977. On September 16, 1978, Deb was united in marriage to Caleb "C.E." Hargis. To this union three children were born, Annie, Nick and Abby. Deb worked at DeLong's in Grinnell and the Overall Factory in New Sharon before cleaning houses while her children were in school. She then went to work at Pella Products for a few years before going to work at Street Rod in Montezuma for the last several years.

Deb enjoyed sewing, crafts, puzzles, playing cards and games. She also enjoyed hiking, biking and doing anything outdoors as long as the weather was nice. She enjoyed traveling with Caleb and together they have been to nearly 80 percent of the National Parks in the United States. Deb was very close to her family and cherished the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and siblings. She was a faithful member of the Union Mills Christian Church where they taught Sunday School for several years and was a member of the Christian Women Fellowship. She volunteered for Child Evangelical Fellowship "CEF" and Youth United Through Christ "YUTC".

Her legacy will be honored by her husband, Caleb Hargis of New Sharon; her three children, Annie (Brent) Mossman of New Sharon, Nick (Stephanie) Hargis of New Sharon and Abby (Clint) McDonald of Oskaloosa; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; her siblings, Rosie (Gordon) Neighbors, Gary (Becky) Kriegel, Kathy (Gary) Whitsel, Connie Buffum, Cindy (Steve) Plate, Don (Christy) Kriegel, Roger (Valerie) Kriegel, Janet (Ron) Plants, Angie (Kevin) Roller, Vickie (Mike) Bunn and Janine (Dave) Hawkins; brother-in-law, Brad Schafbuch along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents; her twin granddaughters in infancy, Langley Grace and Jemma Faith; her siblings, Carmen (Marvin) Cordes, Danny (Dawn) Kriegel, Shirley (Mike) Ahrens, Valerie Schafbuch, Elmer Kriegel and a brother-in-law, Jim Buffum.
