Dennis Straube, 73, of Delta, died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. A memorial service will be held at the Delta United Methodist Church on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be held at the church following the memorial service. Burial will be in the Abel Cemetery near Hedrick at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family. Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Glen Straube was born in Washington, Iowa on May 10, 1946, the son of Carroll and Frankie Mills Straube. He attended high school in Sigourney. Dennis married Joyce Short on January 13, 1964 in Deep River, Iowa. To this union was four children: Robin, Leroy, Terry, and Carroll. Over the years Dennis worked for Mich Coal, Clow Valve, Kaiser Corp, Central Construction and Sigourney Community School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and woodworking.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Robin Marie Straube; two sisters, Carole Descoteaux and Virginia Hartwig, a brother, Terry Robertson; a half-brother, David Vinton; and a half -sister, Nancy Barr.

He is survived by his three sons, Leroy Straube of Delta, Terry Straube of Des Moines, and Carroll (Butch) Straube of Delta; his sister, Connie (Jim) Anderson of Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
