Donald Raymond Baker, 90, of New Sharon died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at Park Centre in Newton, Iowa. He was born in 1932 in Aitkin, Minn., the son of Harvey and Hazel Baker. He attended both Aitkin High School and North Central Bible College. He served in the United States Army for two years. On March 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Patricia Bunting in New Sharon, Iowa. In addition to nearly six decades of farming, Don worked in the iron mines in Minnesota, at Rolscreen in Pella, and Clow Valve Foundry in Oskaloosa.

Don was a devoted Christian and spent many hours watching televised preaching. He enjoyed movies, with westerns and war films being particular favorites. He was a life-long lover of animals, and up until just a few years ago, enjoyed a long companionship with his devoted pug Rascal.

Don is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shalene and Mark Massick; his son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Nancy Baker.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Stephanie (Massick) and Dr. Zachary Alexander; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Jacque (Baker) and Omar Conrad; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Catherine (Baker) and Reuben Vasquez; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Adam and Casey Massick; great-grandchildren Isaac, Ian and Ingrid Alexander, Olivia Conrad, Constance Vasquez, and Graham and Cooper Massick; younger brother Roger and younger sister Marlys. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two older brothers, Clarence and Vernon.

Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.
