Donna Smith, 79 of Bondurant and formerly of Montezuma and Antioch, IL, passed away Friday morning, June 23, 2023 at the Courtyard Estates of Hawthorne Crossing Assisted Living in Bondurant. Memorial services will begin at 3:00 pm Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. No visitation is planned. A burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Romaine (Riddle) Smith, the daughter of Fred and Emily (Herzog) Riddle, was born on October 16, 1943 in Chicago, IL. She attended school in Chicago. On October 26, 1963, Donna was united in marriage to James Smith in Chicago. To this union one daughter was born, Lisa. Donna worked as a bank teller, legal secretary in Chicago and also received her cosmetology license and worked part time doing hair. In 1988, Donna and Jim moved to Ewart, Iowa to be closer to her family and they purchased the Malcom Mini Mart. They owned and operated it for a few years before selling it. They also lived in Grinnell and Rock Creek before moving to Montezuma. Following Jim's death in December of 2020, Donna moved to Bondurant to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter. Donna enjoyed watching reality T.V., taking her daughter to rock concerts when she was younger and hanging out by the buses so they could meet the bands. She was also interested in real-estate and going to open houses.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Lisa (Josh) Blubaugh of Altoona, her granddaughter, Raven (fiancé, Cole Conway) Heathcote of Des Moines; her sister, Helen (Rick) Whitman of Montezuma; sister-in-law, Camille Riddle along with many other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Smith; her brothers, Fredrick (Denise) Riddle, Thomas Riddle, Charles Riddle; her sisters, Dorethy (Bud) Lieumeux and Anita (Robert) Sutfin; two nephews, Richard L. Lieumeux and John David Lieueux and a niece, Diana Bonner.
