Dorothy Gott, 91 of New Sharon passed away peacefully Monday morning, March 25, 2024 at her home in New Sharon under hospice care. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. Burial will be held in the Morman Point Cemetery rural New Sharon. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Mae Gott, the daughter of Roy and Jennie (Freshour) Anderson, was born on March 1, 1933 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1951. On March 19, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage to Marcus Gott in Kirksville, Missouri. To this union six children were born, Bonnie, Melvin, Julie, Joe, John and Marilyn. Dorothy was first a housewife taking care of her family and following Marcus' death, she went to work for the Overall Factory in Pella. Dorothy worked there a short time before working at the New Sharon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center when they opened in 1975. She worked there for over 23 years before retiring in 1998. Dorothy was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed gardening, canning, Embroidering, Crocheting, watching Jeopardy and above all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Union Mills Christian Church and when they moved to town she attended the New Sharon First Christian Church.

Her legacy will be honored by her children, Bonnie Johnson of Oskaloosa, Melvin (Ruth) Gott of Montezuma, Julie Hoksbergen of New Sharon, Joe Gott of What Cheer, John (Charlotte) Gott of Pleasantville and Marilyn Gott of New Sharon; 10 grandchildren, Andrea Garret, Joshua (Candy) Vander Linden, Felica (Fritz) Hanselman, Cody (Emily) Gott, Harriett (Austin) Graham, Michelle (Aaron) Wiggins, Marcus (Amanda) Hoksbergen, Jody Gott, Cindy (Tim Swingle) Gott and Kelly Gott; her great grandchildren, Trenton, Jennie, Jason, Corbin, Nichole, Hailey, Piper, Wyatt, Olivia, Vivian, Logan, Charlie, Levi, Quinn and Augustus, two great-great grandchildren, Stormie and Zayn, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marcus; a grandson in infancy, David Matthew Gott; two brothers, Keith Anderson and Ralph Anderson and a daughter-in-law, Mary Gott.
