Doug Lavent, 77 of Montezuma passed away Friday morning, January 31, 2025 at the UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center. As was his wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. Douglas Francis Lavent, the son of Valare and Francine (Johnston) Lavent, was born on May 10, 1947 in Grinnell, Iowa. He graduated from Brooklyn High School with the class of 1965. On January 25, 1966, Doug was united in marriage to Linda Audas. To this union two children were born, Wendy and Ken. Doug spent his life on the farm farming with his grandfather on the century farm along with farming on his own land. After retiring from farming, Doug enjoyed rebuilding old tractors to occupy his time.

Doug is survived by his daughter, Wendy Lavent Amatangelo of Ankeny; his son, Ken Lavent of Montezuma; his granddaughter, Tori (Greg) Peterson; his great granddaughter, Samantha Leigh Peterson; his great grandson, Grant Lee Peterson; two sisters, Debra Lavent of Arlington, TX and Valerie Blain of Arlington, TX along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda Lavent.
