Ed Stream, 81 of New Sharon passed away Monday evening, August 31, 2026 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. As was his wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. Ed's cremains will be buried in the Van Wert Cemetery in Van Wert, Iowa at a later date. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Edward George Stream, the son of S. Dean and Clarice (Moellenberndt) Stream, was born on April 7, 1945 in Decatur County, Iowa. He attended school at Van Wert Community School before graduating from North Mahaska High School with the class of 1963.  Ed attended William Penn University and worked his way through college on a cement construction crew. He also worked with his father doing carpentry work and worked for Tunney McCulley at the Gas Station in New Sharon before building fence with Jed Bond. In 1982, Ed went to work for the Ice Cream Factory where he was the quality control manager, retiring in 2010.

Ed loved playing cards and enjoyed being the neighborhood guy having great neighbors and handing out oatmeal cream pies. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball. He also enjoyed the morning coffeetime and his dog, Griffin.

Ed's memory will be cherished by his nieces and nephews, Steve Gilbert of Norwalk, Ronal (Susie) Gilbert of Van Wert, Valerie (Jim) Gall of Norwalk, Shelley Stream of Oskaloosa and Jeff (Lynette) Stream of Oskaloosa; his sister-in-law, Carol Stream of Oskaloosa; his close friend, Brad Crosby and his family along with many great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles Stream, Jim Stream and Larry Stream; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (Glen) Gilbert and good friend, Mary Crosby.
