Betty Westercamp, 90 of Grinnell and formerly of Barnes City, passed away Friday morning, January 19, 2024 at her home in Grinnell under hospice care. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Barnes City Community Life Church. A Visitation/Luncheon will be held after the service. Burial will be held in Barnes City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barnes City Community Life Church, Seeland Park or UnityPoint Hospice and please make checks payable to these organizations. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Marie Westercamp, the daughter of Raymond Donald and Magna Sophia (Burow) Draughn, was born on July 17, 1933 in Grinnell, Iowa. She graduated from Barnes City High School in 1951. On October 3, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to John Westercamp at the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church Chapel. To this union three children were born, Ronald, Scott and Crystal. Betty was a farmer's wife, raising their children and helping out on the farm. They farmed near Barnes City. Betty raised, dressed and sold chickens for several years. She worked at the Barnes City Telephone Company for several years and also worked in the Poweshiek County Courthouse. In 1994, John and Betty started delivering campers all over the country. In 2000, they retired and in 2005 they moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell. Betty enjoyed quilting and sewing where she made her daughter and granddaughter's things for Christmas. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, Saturday morning coffeetime, the afternoon chatting at the mailbox and above all spending time with her family. She was a member of the Montezuma Piece Makers and a quilt group in Grinnell.

Her legacy will be honored by her children, Ronald Westercamp of Ankeny, Scott (Carol) Westercamp of Ankeny and Crystal Lyddon of Madison, Alabama; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 more on the way; along with many other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2021; a grandson, John Derek Westercamp; a granddaughter, Darcy Westercamp; five great grandchildren, Baby Kesling, Shay Kesling, Liam Kesling, Eliana Faith Kesling and Evelyn Marie Kesling; a son-in-law, Roger Lyddon and a brother, James Draughn and wife, Ruby.
