Eunice Bond, 99 of New Sharon went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday evening, September 1, 2021 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon. Burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery near New Sharon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon or the Stilwell Public Library in New Sharon. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Eunice Linnea Bond, the daughter of August and Emma (Larson) Bergsten, was born on October 18, 1921 in Alida, Minnesota. Her parents passed away when she was 13 years old.  She and her sisters were separated and raised by different aunts and uncles. Eunice graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota then moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa to attend Murphy Business School. On July 4, 1943, Eunice was united in marriage to Gerald "Jed" Bond in Lancaster, MO in a double wedding with good friends, Sam and June Glendening. To this union five children were born, Pat, Jerry, Jim, Donna and Johnny. Eunice worked at the Maytag Dairy and the Overall factory in Pella, New Sharon, and Oskaloosa before building Bond's Family Restaurant in New Sharon in 1977. Together they owned and operated the restaurant for several years. selling it in 2000. Eunice was an avid reader and kept her mind sharp doing word searches and word puzzles. She was a wonderful seamstress, had a big garden, raised chickens, loved to fish and going on their annual fishing trips to Canada was her favorite activity. Faith and family were very important to Eunice, and she looked forward to attending church on and rarely missed a Sunday service. She was a member of the New Sharon Assembly of God Church where she taught children's church. She is a present member of the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon.

Her legacy will be honored by her children, Patricia Mick of New Sharon, Jerry (Pam) Bond of Adel and Donna (Jack) Smith of New Sharon; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; a sister, Ruth Lewis; and many other relatives and friends.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jed Bond on April 5, 2014; her son, Jim Bond on November 18, 2014; a son in infancy, Johnny; a grandson, Todd Ferguson on May 31, 2002; a son-in-law Frank Mick on September 30, 2019, and two sisters, Edith and Ruby.
