Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, beginning at 10:00 at the Holland-Coble
Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be held in the Sixteen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on
Monday, January 22 beginning at noon with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Holland-
Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Memorials may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice.

Sweet Evelyn Mae Molyneux, 87, passed away & returned to our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven, on January
16, 2024, at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa. Evelyn Mae Nelson was born on May 25 th , 1936, to Earl and Leona "Dolly" Nelson in What Cheer, Iowa. She had 3 siblings, Harry Nelson, Darlene (Nelson) Dalziel, and Marlene (Nelson) Dalziel. She attended
school in What Cheer where she met the love of her life, Lyle Molyneux. Lyle and Evelyn were united in
marriage on May 25, 1952. Evelyn went from city girl to country girl without missing a beat. They were
the parents of four children, Larry, John, Alan, and Mary Anne. Evelyn enjoyed the farm life, staying
busy raising the kids and helping her husband. Lyle farmed with his father Wesley, and the rest of his
family in the Gibson and What Cheer area. Evelyn and he later purchased their current farm near What
Cheer where their family continued to grow as their children married.
Soon one after another, the grandchildren started to arrive. Boy, what a scene. For many years, it was
A Grandmother's Utopia for dear Evelyn as almost every day, the family would gather at her farm. The
dads would work with Lyle tending the farm animals and crops while the moms would harvest the
garden and create delicious meals for all to share. The grandkids would play outside – what adventures
they shared in the green forest, riding three wheelers, or playing in the playhouse. Everything stopped
at afternoon lunch when they'd all gather again for a homemade snack and a coffee. These days went
on for years.
Evelyn was also a devoted member of her Christian community attending What Cheer Baptist Church
where she also served as a Sunday School teacher. Known for her kind demeanor and love of a good
chat with a sugary treat, she absolutely adored having visitors stop in. Those blessed to know her
enjoyed what a delightful disposition she always had – as sweet as the Dutch letters she loved.
Evelyn was always there to remind you what life was all about no matter the obstacle. She would bring
it back to the love of Jesus. Love was the center of her life, and she spent 70 years loving her husband,
Lyle Molyneux, until his death in 2021.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Leona "Dolly" Nelson, her sister, Darlene Dalziel, her
brother, Harry Nelson, her niece, Luanne (Nelson) Thesing, her nephew, Eric Nelson, and two grandsons,
David Molyneux & Anthony Molyneux.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Larry (Jo Ellen) Molyneux of What Cheer, John (Mary) Molyneux of
What Cheer, Alan (Brenda) Molyneux of Deep River, and Mary Anne Snakenberg of Keswick; 19
grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Marlene Dalziel; other
nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
