Florence Lindblom, 88 of Barnes City, passed away Friday morning, August 7, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barnes City Cemetery Association or the Barnes City American Legion Auxiliary. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Florence Annabelle Lindblom, the daughter of Glen and Ruth (Barclay-Patterson) Long, was born in Cumberland Township, Pennsylvania. She grew up in a small coal mining town in Pennsylvania and graduated from Cumberland Township High School before attending Washington Pennsylvania School of Nursing. On May 12, 1963, Florence was united in marriage to Gordon Lindblom at the Christian Church in Oskaloosa. To this union they raised three children, Donald, Calvin and Gwen. Florence worked several years as a nurse at Methodist Medical Center of Central Illinois in Peoria. While living in Pekin, IL, Florence and Gordon loved to host card and pool (billiards) playing parties.

Gordon and Florence moved to Barnes City in 1992, calling Barnes City her home for nearly 30 years. It brought out the best of her, and she fully embraced getting to know the people and her neighbors. She stayed busy by becoming a member of many boards and activities in Barnes City which included the Barnes City American Legion Auxiliary, the Barnes City Cemetery Association and the Pleasant Homes Board.  As a retired RN, she also spent many years as an EMT on the Barnes City Fire Department. Florence absolutely immersed herself in the Barnes City culture and history, knowing more about Barnes City and its people than most others. Florence enjoyed fishing and camping and she spent more time on a lawn mower than most of us have spent working or sleeping.

Her legacy will be honored by her children, Donald (Allison) Lindblom of Pekin, IL, Calvin (Valerie) Lindblom of Pekin, IL and Gwen (John) Weghorst of Wellman; her grandchildren, Ray (Linda) Lindblom, Jonathan Lindblom, Stefanie (Scott) Wilcoxon, Christopher Lindblom, Stephen Lindblom, Matthew Weghorst, Breta (Benjamin) Wooldridge and Haleigh (fiancé, Ethan Ritenour) Weghorst; 16 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon Lindblom in 2020; a daughter in infancy, Cindy; her brother, Donald Long along with 4 sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
