Gerri Malcolm, 80 of Oskaloosa and formerly of Pella and Montezuma, passed away Wednesday morning, July 31, 2024 at the Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 3 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:30 am.  Public visitation with no family present will be held on Friday, August 2, from noon until 6:00 pm.  Burial will be held in the Jackson Cemetery at Montezuma.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Pella Historical Society/Tulip Time or Pella Ambulance.  Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine Opal Malcolm, the daughter of Lester and Opal (Sanders) Thompson, was born on October 15, 1943. She graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1961.  Gerri was united in marriage to Don Malcolm on April 15, 1963 in Joliet, Illinois.  They moved to Pella in 1963 and back to Montezuma in 1990.  In 2020, they moved to Pella.  Gerri enjoyed doing crafts, neighbors playing games, camping and cooking.  Gerri was a stay- at- home Mom raising her daughters.  With her love of jewelry, she found employment with de Juwlier in Pella and then became the Manager of the Jewelry Department at Walmart until her health issues forced her to retire.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Opal Thompson; parents-in-law, Wes and Blanche Malcolm, and sister, Esther Van Zante.

Gerri is survived by her husband, Don, of Pella; her daughters, Tami (Randy) Sikkema of Pella and Barb (Charlie) Estabrook of Pella; her grandchildren, Trent (Stacey) Sikkema, Nikki (Andy) Thomas,  Ashley (Tyler) Sundeen, Chase (Cynamon) Estabrook and Brandon (Morgan) Estabrook; great grandchildren, Gannon, Cambrie, Tinley, Taya,  Charlotte, Willow, Emmalee, Kruze, Bralynn, Bryson, and Cooper; siblings, Mary (Junior) Simpson, Raymond (Connie) Thompson, and brother-in-law, Chuck Van Zante; sister-in-law, Joyce Dungan, and many nieces and nephews.
