Gladys Arthur, 91 formerly of Searsboro passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2020 at the Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tripoli Nursing Home Activities Department. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Pauline Arthur, the daughter of Lester and Eva (Tish) Snook, was born on June 4, 1929 in Grinnell, Iowa. She grew up on a family farm near Grinnell. Gladys was a 1947 graduate of Montezuma High School. On January 6, 1953, Gladys was united in marriage to Keith Arthur. To this union five children were born, Marilyn, Rex, Nancy, Barbara and Cecil. Gladys was a homemaker most of her life and was blessed to raise five children. She worked a few years at the Welcome Inn Restaurant in Montezuma and Cargill. Gladys had a big garden and loved canning, sewing and above all her spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great cook and enjoyed to bake and was most famous for her oatmeal cake. Gladys also enjoyed to dance and playing cards.

Her legacy will be honored by her children, Marilyn ( Terrance) O' Brien of Altoona, IA, Rex (Sue) Arthur of Searsboro, IA, Nancy (Steve) Warneke of Readyn, IA, Barbara (Dennis) VanZante of Pella, IA and Cecil (Bev) Arthur of Searsboro, IA; her 11 grandchildren, Keith (Kate) O Brien, Jonathan (Lauren) Warren, Amanda (Brian) Suiter, Hugh Warren, Ashley (Kyle) Halsey, Courtney (Josh) Mustachi, Jackie (Dave) Parsons, Kayla Van Zante, Stacia Van Zante, Brittnea (Tanis) Comegys and Nick Arthur; her great grandchildren, William O'Brien, Benjamin O'Brien, Parker Warren, Owen Warren, Ayla Suiter, Micah Suiter, Benjamin Suiter, Elianna Suiter, Kaelyn Halsey, Paxton Halsey, Dagen Halsey, Mason Mustachi, Hendrix Parsons, Maddox Parsons, Kiley Arthur, Adelynn Comegys and Daxton Comegys; two brothers, Eldon (Reca) Snook of Grinnell and Roy (Kathy) Snook of Tipton, IA; two sisters-in-law, Pat Snook of Montezuma and Betty Snook of Montezuma; many nieces, nephews and friends

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith Arthur on January 18, 1978; a grandson, Kyle Arthur; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Arthur and her siblings, Frances Schillenger, Lucille Tish, Floyd Snook, Willis Snook, Edward Snook, Keith Snook, Betty Van Dee and Donald Snook; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor "Ellie" Snook, Phyllis Snook and Joan Snook and two brothers-in-law, Marion Van Dee and Walt Tish.
