Jim Smith, 82 of Montezuma and formerly of Antioch, IL passed away Wednesday morning, December 30, 2020 at the Unity Point Grinnell Regional Medical Center. As was Jim's wish, his body will be cremated and a service will be held later in the Spring. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

James Arthur Smith, the son of James and Irene (Nelson) Smith, was born on June 20, 1938 in Chicago, IL. He attended Lane High School in Chicago. Following high school, Jim worked at a local gas station where he met the love of his life, Donna Riddle. They were united in marriage on October 26, 1963 in Chicago. To this union one daughter was born, Lisa. Jim worked at a few different factories in the Chicago area before working at UNARCO Lighting where he was a manager for the pickers.  He worked several years there until the company moved to Indiana. Jim and Donna then moved to Ewart, Iowa in 1988 to be closer to some of Donna's family. Together they owned and operated the Malcom Mini Mart for a few years before selling it. They also lived in Grinnell and Rock Creek before moving to Montezuma. Jim had a huge collection of Lionel Trains. He enjoyed football, history and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

His memory will be honored by his wife of 57 years, Donna Smith of Montezuma; his daughter, Lisa (Josh) Blubaugh of Altoona; his granddaughter, Raven Heathcote of Des Moines; a sister, Shirley Stewart of Antioch, IL and several other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barb Payne.
