James Thomas, 74 of What Cheer passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024. As was his wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made in the family's name and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home; In Care of James Thomas; P.O. Box 325; What Cheer, Iowa 50268. Holland-Coble Funeral Chapel of What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.

James Lee Thomas, the son of Richard and Marjorie (Winegardener) Thomas, was born on January 3, 1950 at home in Delta. He attended country school before graduating from Tri County High School in 1968. Jim worked at Clow Valve Company in Oskaloosa for over 20 years. He worked many Union jobs welding for several years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was very proud of where he lived and enjoyed walking the countryside along with arrowhead hunting, watching westerns, history and just having a good time. He was a wonderful grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Faith was very important to Jim and enjoyed his talks with God. He was also a faithful member of the Delta Christian Church.

His memory will be honored by his children, Rachel (Ben) Roos of Silvis, IL, Rebecca (Greg Sellers) of Sigourney, Wyatt Thomas and Summer Thomas; five grandchildren, Bryce, Vivian, Kinnick, Emmaline and Eliza; two brothers along with many other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
