Janet Elaine (Kimball) White, 89, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026 at Valley View Village in Des Moines, surrounded by the love of her family. A graveside service will be held on July 11, 2026 at 11:00 am at Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma, Iowa, where Janet will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Royden. A memorial service celebrating Janet's life will be held at a later date at the Denton County Cowboy Church in Ponder, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet's memory. The family will designate donations to the Denton County Cowboy Church. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Janet was born on March 31, 1937, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Alfred Ray Kimball and Nola (King) Kimball. On February 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, Royden L. White, in Garnett, Kansas. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and a love that endured for 65 years

They began their married life in Kansas before moving to Des Moines and later Altoona, Iowa, where they raised their four daughters. Later, they made their home in Montezuma, Iowa, where they enjoyed many wonderful years together before retiring to Denton, Texas. While living in Texas, Janet became an active member of the Denton County Cowboy Church, where she formed many cherished friendships and found joy in worship and fellowship. In the final months of her life, she returned to the Des Moines area to be surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Janet found joy in the simple things in life. She loved sewing, crafting, and cooking and was always excited to try a new recipe. She enjoyed lunches with friends, treasured her time with the Red Hat Society, and loved the fellowship she found through her church. Above all, Janet loved spending time with her family. She never missed an opportunity to share a story about one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren and was incredibly proud of each of them. Whether celebrating an accomplishment, recalling a funny memory, or simply talking about those she loved most, her family was always at the center of her heart. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow through the generations. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Coco, whose companionship brought her comfort and happiness.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Royden L. White; her parents, Alfred Ray and Nola (King) Kimball; her parents-in-law, Mexa and Harry White; her daughter, Debra Smith; her son-in-law, Bob Smith; and her brother, John Kimball. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Denise (Steve) Thompson, Nola (Mike) McClaflin, and Janice (Anthony) St. Clair; her sister, Lee Carlisle; her grandchildren, Trevor Smith, Galen (Erin) Smith, Anisa Smith, Mark (Kristen McCutcheon) Thompson, Brandon (Sarah) Thompson, Jennifer (Tyler) Roberts, Michael (Mary) McClaflin, Sara McClaflin, and Cody St. Clair; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Makayla Smith, Ezra Smith, Claire Smith, Tessa Smith, Mason Coombs, Laramie Thompson, Carver Thompson, Hayden Thompson, Beau Thompson, Nathan (Jocelyn Dillinger) Roberts, Nadia McClaflin, Hunter Roberts, Quentin Harrison, Nola Roberts, Buck McClaflin, Abby McClaflin, Nolan Parrish, and Skylar Parrish.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of EveryStep Hospice and Valley View Village for the exceptional care, kindness, comfort, and dignity they provided to Janet and her family during her final days. Janet will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her generous heart, and the countless stories she shared that kept those she loved close, no matter the distance.
