Jerry Roush, 85 of New Sharon passed away Sunday morning, June 7, 2026 at the Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. A memorial fund has been established at the First State Bank and may be made to the Jerry Roush Memorial Scholarship. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Lee Roush, the son of Denver and Lorene (Schaefer) Roush, was born on September 1, 1940 in Brookfield, Missouri. He graduated from Brookfield High School with the class of 1958. Jerry then attended Teacher's College (Northeast Missouri State) receiving his bachelor's degree in 1963. On August 26, 1962, Jerry was united in marriage to Marilyn Clubine in Brookfield, MO. To this union four children were born, Dana, Danette, Damon and Dara. Jerry began his teaching career at North Mahaska Community School in 1963 touching the lives of 1,000's of students over the years. During the early years of teaching, Jerry spent his summers obtaining his master's degree in education from Northeast Missouri State. He also spent his summers at Prairie Knolls Country Club managing the clubhouse and taking care of the pool. During that time, Jerry and Marilyn also co-owned and operated C & R Market for many years in New Sharon. Following his retirement in 1997 after 34 years of teaching, Jerry enjoyed being busy working at J. Farnsworth Pepperdine before beginning a second career at Boyd's Cellular in New Sharon for over 23 years. Jerry enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, taking care of his chickens, listening to gospel music and playing cards. He was a longtime member of the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon along with Prairie Knolls Country Club.

His legacy will be cherished by his wife, Marilyn Roush; his children, Dana (Steve) Safley of LaPlata, MO, Danette (Nathan) Deters of Storm Lake, Damon (Michelle) Roush of Lexington, MO and Dara (Matt) Fisher of Keswick; his grandchildren, Megan (Jake) Long, Caitlin (Daniel) Howe, Molly (Greg) Tuggle, Matt (Paige) Safley, Emily (Colton) Wicker, Erin (Christian) Overholtzer, Noah (Sophia) Roush, Olivia Roush, Hannah (Jeremy Camerer) Miover, Emma Roush, Tessa Fisher and Drew Fisher; great grandchildren, Kaden, Kenzie, Zandelyn, Griffin, Avostyn, Loughlin, Hadley, Cade, Tommy and one on the way in October; his brother, Jim Roush of Brookfield, MO along with many other relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Lorene Roush.
