Jodi Cheney, 48 of Deep River passed away Thursday evening, January 23, 2025 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma.  Burial will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Monday, January 27, 2025 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Jodi Susan Cheney was born on February 18, 1976 in Iowa, the daughter of William and Susan McCullough Schmidt.  She lived around the Deep River area before graduating from Montezuma High School in 1994.  She then attended Indian Hills in Ottumwa graduating with a degree in accounting.  She worked in Oskaloosa at a jewelry store, clothing store, and the Mahaska State Bank.  She was united in marriage to Roger Cheney on June 22, 2002 at the United Church in Deep River.  They were the parents of four children, Michael, Ryan, Madison and Krista.  Jodi transferred to the Mahaska Bank in North English before becoming a stay-at-home mom for the next twelve years. She then began working at the First State Bank in Brooklyn where she was currently working.  Jodi enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, sports events, football, watching her sons race, had fun at her bank ladies' parties, and was very proud of her four children.  She was a member of the United Church in Deep River, on the Parish Council, and the women's auxiliary.

Her memory will be honored by her husband, Roger; her children; Michael, Ryan, Madison and Krista all of Deep River; her father, William Schmidt of Jacksonville, FL, her brother, Travis (Sara) Schmidt of Sigourney; her sister, Brianne (Anthony) Forbes of North English; her mother-in-law, Judy Cheney of Deep River; her aunt and uncle, Mark and Mary McCullough of Deep River and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Jodi is preceded in death by her mother, Susan Schmidt; her father-in-law, Bud Cheney, her sister-in-law, Crystal Cheney; her grandparents, Allan and Joyce McCullough and Sam and Deloris Schmidt along with an uncle, Steven McCullough.
