Joyce Hester, 74 of Montezuma passed away Tuesday evening, January 7, 2025 at the UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Memorials may be made to Jennifer Norris for a memorial to be decided on at a later time. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Ann Hester, the daughter of Roa "Maxey" and Billie (Garrett) Hester, was born on April 2, 1950. She attended Urbandale schools before moving to Montezuma and graduating from Montezuma High School in 1969. Joyce worked at Sig Manufacturing for a few years before having her daughter, Jennifer. She then moved to the deep south living in Florida, New Orleans and a few others before returning to Montezuma. She then worked at Montezuma Manufacturing for several years before going back to Sigs where she retired in 2017 after working there for more than 40 years. After retirement, Joyce enjoyed spending time at home reading Stephen King books. She also enjoyed doing word searches, camping, attending the Iowa State Fair along with camping many years at the Iowa State Fair. Joyce was also an animal lover, raising sheep, cows, pygmy goats and a horse on their farm. She also dearly loved her dog, Pheobe.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Junior) Norris of Montezuma; her granddaughter, Dakota Norris of Montezuma; her great grandson, Aiden Norris of Montezuma; her sister, Nancy (Tony) Lammers of Brooklyn and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxey and Billie Hester; her granddaughter, Jenna Marie Norris; her brothers, Daniel Hester, Harold Hester and David Hester along with her sister, Doris (Michael) Gretz.
