Julie Glenney, 69 of Lake Ponderosa in Montezuma, Iowa passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023 at her home under hospice care. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma. A visitation/luncheon will be held after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.  Memorials may be directed to PALS (Poweshiek Animal League Shelter). Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is handling the arrangements.

Julie Ann Glenney, the daughter of Bernard and Donna (Klien) Trehey, was born on August 30, 1954 in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. She attended Marshalltown School before graduating from Saint Joseph's Academy in Omaha, NE in 1970. On May 6, 1971, Julie was united in marriage to David Glenney. To this union three children were born, Jodi, Jeffery and Jeremy. They lived in Marshalltown before moving to the Des Moines area eventually owning an acreage outside of Runnells where they lived and raised their family for 23 years. Julie provided in home daycare for several years until all her children were in school. She worked at the Southeast Polk Junior High School in the bakery for 18 years, where she met her closest local friends. Julie was loved by her coworkers and students alike.

Julie was a part of the "Flower Ladies" in Altoona helping maintain the flowers around the city. She enjoyed gardening, baking, bird watching and tending the birds. Julie also enjoyed going on family vacations, camping in the RV, riding around the lake with Dave and Charlie and above all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her dogs, Bear (2003-2014) and Charlie. David and Julie also wintered in Florida for a few years before purchasing a property there. They were able to enjoy it for several years before selling it in 2019. They also owned a summer home at Lake Ponderosa near Montezuma. Following Julie's retirement from Southeast Polk Junior High in 2010, they sold their acreage in Runnells and moved to the lake full time.

Julie's legacy is cherished by her husband, David Glenney, and her beloved dog, Charlie of Montezuma; her children, Jodi (Kevin) Hardy of Mason City and Jeremy (Rachel) Glenney of Coralville; 11 grandchildren, Jarin Hardy, Eli Hardy, Raina Hardy, Rowan Hardy, Aiden Hardy, Ella Hardy, Jayden Glenney, Austin Glenney, Taylor Glenney, Rylend Glenney, and Cayden Slifer; her sisters, Linda King, Mary Roche, Angela (Brian) Anderson and Valerie Fricke; her brother, Charles Fricke; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffery Earl Glenney; a brother, Denis Trehey; and her beloved dog, Bear.
