Justin Smith, 45 of Brooklyn, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. A private family gathering will be held at a later time. Justin Allan Smith, the son of David and Diane Grier Smith was born on February 22, 1973 at Grinnell, Iowa. He graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1992. Justin married Debbie Fleener on April 20, 1996 and to this union two children were born, Lexie and Nathan. Justin began working at Farm Service in Grinnell and then the Key Coop in Grinnell. He worked for Lynnville Transport
for 12 years. He farmed part-time and worked at Seaton's Construction and then Jeld-Wen. Currently, he was a truck mechanic at Star Auto in Sully. Justin married Carrie Thompson in 2015.

He loved motorcycles, listening to music, attending his children's activities, enjoyed the Kansas Jay Hawks, was a very good cook and loved being a jokester and prankster.

Justin's memory will be cherished by his father, David Smith of Montezuma, his wife, Carrie Smith of Brooklyn; his children, Lexie Smith of Brooklyn and Nathan Smith of Brooklyn; his sister, Amy (Lonnie) Van Manen of Sully; his nieces, Bayli, Elizabeth and Maggie Van Manen of Sully; and his grandfather, Phil Grier of Montezuma; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Grier Smith; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Grier and his paternal grandparents Kenny (Bud) Smith and Navada Pearl Smith.
