Keith Harvey 82, of Grinnell, died Sunday, July 2, 2023 at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma with a luncheon to follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. A Visitation with family present to greet friends and relatives will begin at 10:00 am and last until the time of the service. Burial of his cremains will be held at a later date at the Sharon Cemetery in southern Iowa. The service will be livestreamed on the Community Hope Church YouTube page with a link to the service on the Holland-Coble Funeral Home Facebook page. Memorials may be directed to the family and will be determined at a later date.  Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of the arrangements.

Keith Dewaine Harvey was born on January 5, 1941 in Lorimor, Iowa to Howard and Margaret Hudson Harvey.  Keith was the youngest of four siblings.  He attended and graduated from Lorimor High School in 1959.  Keith was a good athlete, and excelled in basketball and football. He held the school record for many years, making 14 consecutive free throws in a single basketball game.  Keith began working as a young man for the Iowa DOT in August of 1959.  His jobs involved taking soil samples along Iowa roadways, he was also a bridge inspector in Des Moines and finally the Maintenance Operation Assistant at the Grinnell office, until he retired in August of 2002.  Keith enjoyed going to work everyday, largely due to the people he worked with.  Keith was united in marriage to Nancy Baber on July 25, 1970 in Derby, Iowa.  To this union their son Brent was born.  Keith also became the step father to three girls, of which he loved like they were his own.  Keith enjoyed his family and had only unconditional love for them.  He was a jokester, loved to fish, hunt, camp, take week long motorcycle trips, play cards, enjoyed watching the grandchildren's sporting events, supporting the Chicago Cubs and also visiting every ice cream shop he could find(on IDOT time and personal!).  Keith took his granddaughter, Tori, with him to Canada fishing multiple times, and made life long memories for both of them. Keith also enjoyed the many years of going south with Nancy in their motorhome, and meeting up with family and friends for weeks at a time.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Montezuma.  Keith was a very honest man, was very ethical, had great integrity and always tried to do the right thing.  His life goal was to teach his family to respect everyone, and to work hard for their success in life.  Keith took great pride in watching the people around him, become successful.   Keith will be greatly missed.

Keith is survived by his wife, Nancy of Grinnell, IA, his son, Brent (Kim) Harvey of Atkins, IA, his step daughters, Kelly (Mike) Martini of Clive, IA, and Brenda (Jimmy) Nelson of Estes Park, CO. 6 grandchildren, Laura Alvarado of Los Angeles, CA, Jesse Brommel of Des Moines, IA, Katie Nelson of Denver, CO, Gina Woodruff of Omaha, NE, Vicktoria Harvey of Newhall, IA, Alyse Harvey of Mankato MN. and 12 great grandchildren; his brother Donald (Pat) Harvey of Pleasant Hill, IA, his sister, Ada (Laverne) Bachman, of Clarkston, WA, sister-in-law, Kathy Harvey of Parish, FL, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents;  his step daughter, Karen Logan; and his brother, Harold Harvey.
