Kristin Armstrong, 82 of Gibson, Iowa passed away at her home on September 9, 2026. Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026 beginning at 10:30 am at the Jackson Church of Christ in Montezuma. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow the luncheon at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in Charge of Arrangements.

Kristin Sue Armstrong was born on January 25, 1944, to Vincent Johnson and Susan Snyder Johnson.  She attended Montezuma High School and graduated with the class of 1962.  She then attended the University of Iowa graduating in 1966 with a bachelor's in education.  She then moved to Madison, WI teaching 6th grade for a year before moving back to Montezuma where she taught 5th grade.  On June 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Donald Armstrong at the Methodist Church in Montezuma. She taught for one year at Montezuma before having her two children, Joe and Susan.

She was a farmer's wife-homemaker helping on the farm and raising the kids.  She also worked as a substitute teacher on occasion at Montezuma.  She also worked for Dr. Carter at the Vet Clinic, the Montezuma Nursing Home in the kitchen for a short time before working at the Monte Locker.  Donald passed away from a farming accident and years later she married David Maxwell on February 14, 1993.  She worked at Maxwell Tiling as the office manager for many years.

Kris enjoyed mowing yards, which became a fulltime job, gardening and puzzles.  She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities, including soccer, music/band concerts, school musicals and dance recitals.  She was a former member of the Montezuma Methodist Church and served as choir director for over 25 years and continued to be a part of it in later years.  She was a 50 year member of PEO, DAR and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Joe (Michele) Armstrong, Susan (Scott) Swacker, Curtis (Pam) Maxwell and Jenny (Shawn) Webster; grandchildren, Ashley (Bryce) Dekoning, Amanda (Magnus) Wilson, Cassandra (fiancé Michael Walters) Swacker, Ian Swacker, Mackenzie (Skyler) Shoup, Blair Webster, Grady Webster, Ashia Maxwell, Chrissy (fiancé Justin) Harding, and Ashley LaPoint; 14 great grandchildren; and a brother, Vincent (Karon) Johnson, II; as well as many other friends and relatives.

Kristin was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Donald Armstrong and David Maxwell.
