Leah Rupp, 90 of Montezuma passed away Saturday morning, October 10, 2020 at the Montezuma Specialty Care. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Pleasant Township Cemetery near Ewart. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Leah Mae Rupp, the daughter of William and Bess Anna (Banks) Shadley, was born on November 26, 1929 in Kellogg, Iowa. She graduated from Montezuma High School. On April 9, 1950, Leah was united in marriage to John Rupp. To This union, three daughters were born, Mary, Jane and Joan. Leah taught at Newburg Elementary for a couple years before being a teacher's assistant at Bailey Elementary in Grinnell. She then ended up at Davis Elementary working with special needs students before finishing her career in the library at Davis Elementary. She worked several years in the Grinnell School system and absolutely loved working with the children over the years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished spending time with her family. Leah was very artistic and loved to paint and draw. She also had a talent to play the organ beautifully without music and by sound only. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed to bake and quilt. Leah was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church and a 4-H Leader for the Washington Merry Workers for several years. She also was involved in the Blue Point Neighborhood Club.

Her memory will be honored by three daughters, Mary (Rupp) Sheldon and Lynn, Jane (Rupp) Jimenez and Joan Rupp; his grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan, Patrick Sheldon, Megan Hopkins and Holly Spencer; his great grandchildren, Logan Sheldon, Conner Sheldon, Braxton Sheldon, Emery Sheldon, Isabella Morgan and Lilianna Spencer and many other relatives and friends.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Rupp; a grandson, Brian Jimenez; three brothers, William Shadley, Karl Shadley and Bayard Shadley; her sister, Norma Jean McKee and a son-in-law, Richard Jimenez.
