Lenora Coulter, 88, of New Sharon, Iowa, died November 5, 2021, at the Shiloh Nursing and Rehab Center in Springdale, AR. A graveside service will be held at Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg at 10:00 AM on November 15, 2021. Rather than flowers, Lenora asked for donations to the food bank at the What Cheer United Methodist Church (https://www.foodbankiowa.org), Love INC of Mahaska County (https://www.loveincmahaska.org/volunteer) or to the Lacey United Methodist Church. Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Coulter was born October 1, 1933, in Tilton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Vernon and Lena McCulley and a 1951 graduate of What Cheer High School. On September 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to James "Jim" Coulter at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  Soon after, the couple began farming. Several years later the couple started a Standardbred Race Horse Stable.  Lenora was an active partner in both farming and racing.  For many years she was an official starter for the Iowa Harness Horse Association either driving the starting gate or having control of the horses until giving the word "GO".  In addition, Lenora was a long time member of the Lacey United Methodist Church and active in her community and children's events.

Throughout her life, Lenora was very devoted to family and especially her husband Jim, and she worked beside him all of her life. Due to this devotion, her children and grandchildren loved, respected and admired her wisdom, talents, and abilities.  She will be remembered as a hardworking, strong woman who could handle any situation.

She is survived by her children; Diana (Randy) Fuqua of Springdale AR and Janna (Jim) Hawkins of Laguna Vista, TX; a son, Rodney (Victoria) Coulter of Warner Robins, GA; her sister, Phyllis Gresham; five grandchildren Candra, Lendee, Brent, Anthony and Amber; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Neva and grandson Travis.
