Lloyd Richards, 86 of Hills, Iowa and formerly of New Sharon, passed away Friday afternoon, March 31, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa City Food Pantry. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Kirk Richards, the son of Kirk and Dorotha (Robertson) Richards, was born on August 15, 1936 in New Sharon, Iowa. He graduated from New Sharon High School in 1954. Lloyd was married to Darlene Savage. To this union two sons where born, Kelly and Kerry. Lloyd farmed south of New Sharon and sold crop insurance. Together, Lloyd and Darlene started South Central Real Estate in Oskaloosa. Following their divorce, he sold the business and worked for Sutherland Printing for a short time before moving to Des Moines. Lloyd was then married to Carol Brown of Des Moines. While living in Des Moines, he sold Real Estate and drove for an armored car company. He then moved to Hills, Iowa where he continued driving the armored car company and lastly he drove a semi.  Lloyd enjoyed tractor rides with his son, Kelly, traveling with his son, Kerry and square dancing. He was very faithful and enjoyed going to church and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in New Sharon and a men's group with the church. He was a member of the Iowa Board of Realtors.

Lloyd is survived by his sons, Kelly Richards of Donnellson, Iowa and Kerry Richards of Fairfield, Iowa; two grandchildren, Desiree Richards and Dustin Richards; one nephew, Daniel Richards; an aunt, Georgia May and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirk and Dorotha Richards; his brother, Afton Richards; a nephew, Duane Richards and ex-wife and longtime friend, Darlene Richards.
