Lucy Belle Lamb, 97, of What Cheer, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26, at 10:30 am at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer, Iowa. Private burial will be held in the Sixteen Cemetery, near Thornburg. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, beginning at noon with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Memorials may be directed to the What Cheer United Methodist Church or the Keokuk County Hospice. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.

Lucy Belle Lamb was born on February 23, 1924 at Thornburg, Iowa to John and Belle Morrison Whitworth. She attended Greenview country school through the 8 ^th grade and graduated from Thornburg High School in May of 1941. Lucy worked two years at an agricultural office in Sigourney. Lucy and Warren Lamb were united in marriage on March 13, 1943. Warren returned from active duty in January 1944 and they made their home in What Cheer. Lucy worked for the Tri-County school the next 21 years, resigning her position as secretary to the Superintendent in 1978. They moved to Des Moines where she was employed as secretary at the State Board of Pharmacy Examiners for eight years. After retirement from the state, she worked for ten years for Maurices Distribution in Johnston. Warren passed away in February 1983 and Lucy stayed in Des Moines until she decided to move to Oskaloosa to be closer to her family. Lucy loved sewing and enjoyed making many of her daughter's clothes. She loved working in the garden and loved working with flowers. Family was so important to her and she always had roast beef and homemade noodles for dinner after church. She enjoyed cooking, especially making home-made bread and trying new recipes. She spent hours making crafts, especially working with colored beads, making Christmas decorations, beads and trivets. A favorite was also reading and she played a lot of cards. Her family continued to be the highlight of her life.  She entered Deer View Manor Assisted Living on April 1, 2012 in Sigourney, Iowa. Lucy always belonged to the Methodist Church. When still at home, she attended the Thornburg Methodist Church and also churches in What Cheer, Des Moines and Oskaloosa.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Belle Whitworth; her husband, Warren; son, Marvin; brothers, Al, John, and Jim Whitworth; sister, Patricia Korenke; half-brother, David Whitworth.

Lucy is survived by her daughter, Sue (Russ) Andeway; her son, Lyle (Diane) Lamb; her grandchildren, Jodi Boatright (Tom Smith), Brandon Lamb, Ryan (Stacy) Andeway, Allison Bain, Abigail (Doug) Schaffner and Alexis (Nate Bryngelson) Lamb; and four great grandchildren, Tristin Andeway, Taylor (Kayla Kyte) Andeway, Benjamin Schaffner and Blake Schaffner; two great great grandchildren, Ryder Andeway and Paisley Ruberg; half- sister Joyce Harwood; daughter-in-law Dahlene (Alan) Sprague; sister-in-law Marlene (Kenny) Van Kooten; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
