Lyle M. Lamb
May 26, 1951 – June 24, 2026

Lyle M. Lamb, 75, passed away on June 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, who traveled from down the driveway, Colorado, Florida, and Georgia to be by his side in his final days after a very brief battle with cancer.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.  Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be held in the Sixteen cemetery in What Cheer.

Lyle was born on May 26, 1951, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Warren and Lucy (Whitworth) Lamb. He graduated from Tri-County High School in 1969 before serving in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War, with assignments at Fairchild Air Force base in Washington state, Guam, and Thailand.

On June 16, 1984, Lyle married the love of his life, Diane Tish. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family.

Lyle enjoyed traveling, whether it was local bar hopping or an adventure across the country with his six best friends. He also loved heading to the timber to hunt mushrooms, target practice and spending time in the fields hunting pheasants, turkeys, and crows with his friends. Nothing meant more to him than time with his children and grandchildren, playing catch, watching movies, or simply having everyone together at his house. He took great pride in driving his Shelby Mustang and was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeyes athletics, especially women's basketball. He proudly attended both of the team's Final Four appearances.

Lyle will be remembered for his dry wit, loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family. He was never one for fancy words, but he showed his love through his presence.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane Lamb; his daughters, Allison (Christian) Larkin, Abbie (Doug) Schaffner, and Alexis (Nate) Bryngelson; his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Blake Schaffner and Barrett Larkin; his sister, Susan (Russell) Andeway; his nieces, Jodi (Tom) Smith and Brook (Ed) Lust; his nephews, Brandon Lamb and Ryan (Stacey) Andeway, great nieces and nephews; along with many extended family members and friends including his brothers-in-law Dennis (Michelle) Tish, Doug (Kelly) Tish, Dan (Marlys) Tish and Aunt Marlene Van Kooten.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Warren and Lucy (Whitworth) Lamb; his brother, Marvin Lamb; and his in-laws, Marvin and Verla (Bates) Tish.

Lyle's family finds comfort in knowing that the stories he told, the miles he traveled (and complained about), the pride he had in his family, and the love he shared will continue to live on. His favorite place was home, especially when it was filled with the people he loved most. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
