Marten Smith,53 of Laurens, Iowa passed away Sunday evening, May 3, 2020 at his home in Laurens. Graveside services will begin at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the family's name and sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home; in care of Marten Smith; P.O. Box 85; New Sharon, Iowa 50207. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Marten Kyle Smith, the son of Larry and Sheila (Harry) Smith, was born on March 28, 1967 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was a 1985 graduate of Waterloo Central High School in Waterloo, Iowa. Marty began working for his father at the age of 16. He worked several years with him before starting a job as a machinist with Sioux Tools in Sioux City, Iowa until they closed. He most recently worked for Fisher Hydraulics in Laurens, Iowa. Marty enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was a wonderful son, father and grandfather and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family.

He is survived by his mother, Sheila Smith of Punta Gorta, Florida, his children, Holly Smith of Kansas City, KS, Heather (Miguel) Corio Raymudo of Cedar Rapids, Meghan Stockham of Sioux City, Michaela Smith of Spirit Lake and Kyle Smith of Prescott, Arizona; his eight grandchildren, Miguel Jr., Thomas Jr., Jordan, Rowan, Jayden, Phoenix, Marlee and Emma; his sister, Emily (Scott) Stevens of Cape Coral, Florida; his fiancé, Colleen McCallister of Laurens, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.

Marten was preceded in death by his father, Larry Smith.
