Mike Hasley, 76 of Montezuma passed away Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma beginning at 10:30 am.  Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.   Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home.  Memorials may be designated in Mike's name to help with the care of his dog, Nova and also to the local animal shelter.  Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Lee Hasley was born on October 30, 1948 in Grinnell, Iowa to Lewis and Arlene Bunnell Hasley.  He was the youngest of six siblings.  Mike attended school in Brooklyn, Iowa and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 being honorably discharged in 1970.  He then went to work at Amana Refrigeration before working at Montezuma Manufacturing and Kinze.  He married Linda Mott at the Lynnville Friends Church at Lynnville on August 26, 1972.  They became the parents of three children, Jeff, Megan, and Eric.  In 1978, Mike opened Mike's Bait Shop in Montezuma closing shortly after his wife passed away in 2006.

Mike enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising his huge tomatoes and pumpkins and sharing them with family and friends.  He also enjoyed Figure 8 races, going to the Frontier Café in Grinnell for breakfast and the casino at Meskawki.  Mike liked to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.  His grandchildren were a huge part of his life and he enjoyed spending summers with them and decided they needed a pool at his house.  He enjoyed a good conversation and was always very punctual. Mike would have enjoyed having everyone come fifteen minutes before his service. Mike was a prankster, especially with Megan, and loved the company of his dog, Nova.

Mike is survived by his children, Jeff Hasley of What Cheer, Megan (Josh) Overton of Indianola, and Eric (Alicia) Hasley of Newton; his grandchildren, Alan, Russel, Ariel, Hope, Ethan, Xander, Maggie, Sydney, Mallory and Oliver; his sister, Sharon Kay (Jerry) Winchell of Mission, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ginny (Dave) Bidwell of Gilman,  and many other friends and relatives.
