Mickey Hinmon, 60 of New Sharon passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, August 13, 2021 at the New Sharon United Methodist Church. Burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery at Union Mills. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Lupus Foundation of America. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Frances "Mickey" Hinmon, the daughter of James Hinmon and Nita (Grace) Hinmon, was born on June 27, 1961 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She graduated from North Mahaska High School with the class 1979 and then received her nursing degree from Indian Hills Community College. In September of 1986, Mickey was united in marriage to Michael Milliken. To this union she gained a son, Jacob and had two daughters, Sarah and Leslie. They later divorced. Mickey worked at various Hospitals in the Des Moines area with her most rewarding hospital being at Blank Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). She also worked at the Grinnell and Oskaloosa Hospitals until the mid-1990's.

At the age of 14, Mickey was diagnosed with Lupus, a disease that she struggled with and managed to the best of her ability. She decided to go into nursing because of her Lupus and was dedicated to help others. She was a very caring person and loved spending time with friends and family. She was very involved in her children's activities, from attending cheerleader events, dance competitions, being a Brownie Girl Scout Leader, teaching Sunday School, helping with the youth church program and attending softball games where she volunteered to keep the book for several years. She was the editor for the New Sharon Star and was known for her column, "A Moment with Mickey", from the late-1990's to mid-2000's. Mickey also was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, playing guitar, attending Bible Study and above all she loved being a grandma. Mickey was also a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church.

Her memory will be honored by her children, Jacob (Linard) Milliken of Des Moines; Sarah (Jeremy) Schuring of Pella and Leslie Milliken of New Sharon; five grandchildren, Abygail Schuring, Michael Schuring, Ashton Schuring, Hannah Schuring and Piper Milliken; her mother, Nita Hinmon of New Sharon; Les (Lori) Hinmon of Leawood, KS and John Roberts of Surprise, Arizona and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mickey was preceded in death by her father, James Hinmon.
