Mike Henkle, 63 of Montezuma passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.  Open House/Luncheon will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Montezuma Memorial Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike's honor may be made to Poweshiek County Conservation or the Montezuma Fire Department and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home; In Care of Mike Henkle; P.O. Box 727; Montezuma, Iowa 50171. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Eugene Henkle, son of William and Leila Hall Henkle was born on March 22, 1961 at Oskaloosa, Iowa.  Mike grew up on the family farm where he helped his dad.  He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1979. Mike and Brenda Thompson were united in marriage on July 1, 1983 at the Montezuma Methodist Church and to this union Thomas and Michaella were born.  He also farmed with the Jack Brothers, H&W Brand Welding in Grinnell before working at Montezuma Manufacturing for 37 years.  Mike's family was very important to him.  He was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, running coon hounds, enjoyed westerns, especially Gunsmoke and  Andy  Griffith.

Mike is survived by his mother, Leila Henkle; his wife of 41 years, Brenda; his son,  Thomas (Cori) Henkle; his son-in-law, Terry Saunders; his grandchildren, Taylor Saunders, Macy Saunders, Abbi Henkle, Addison Saunders and Tait Henkle; his sister, Diana DeJong; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bill Henkle; his brother, Lyle Henkle; his daughter, Michaella Saunders; and his brother-in-law, Dwight DeJong.
