Mike Moothart, 71 of New Sharon passed away Wednesday evening, December 18, 2024 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Monday, December 23, 2024 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Monday. Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Micheal Leon Moothart, the son of Irwin "Red" and Wanda (Maxwell) Moothart, was born on May 6, 1953. He graduated from North Mahaska High School with the class of 1971 where he was Homecoming King and then attended Northeast Missouri State. Mike worked for D & P Lumber while in high school, then drove fertilizer truck for DeJong and then worked Huffman Feed. On July 31, 1987, Mike was united in marriage to Diane DeGoey. In 1988, Mike began his career at Pella Corp. retiring in 2021 after 33 years. Mike loved to hunt and fish and took several trips to Idaho, Montana and Canada. He also enjoyed collecting coins and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was an avid New York Yankee fan and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Mike was a member of the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon, the NRA and also was a faithful supporter of Pheasants Forever.

Mike's legacy will be cherished by his wife, Diane of New Sharon; his children, B.J. Smith of New Sharon, Chris (Laura) Moothart of New Sharon, Tammy (Kristofer) Sauer of New Sharon and Blayne (Casey) Kool of Lovilia; his ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; along with his sister-in-laws, many other nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin "Red" and Wanda Moothart; his brother, Steve Moothart and an infant sister, Cynthia.
