Mildred Harris, 83, of What Cheer, Iowa passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer with the family present.  There are no services planned and burial will be held at a later date at the McFarlan Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Holland-Coble Funeral Home of What Cheer is in charge of the arrangements.

Mildred Jean Harris was born at home on Thanksgiving Day, November 30,1939 to John and Grace Messerschmitt Haines in Iowa.  She attended school and graduated from English Valley (Kinross).    Mildred was united in marriage to Larry Dugger on June 28, 1958.  To this union two daughters were born, Donna and Kimberly.  Mildred was a master gardener, quilter, pie maker, homemaker and factory worker (spot welder) at Amana.  She and Larry divorced some years later and Mildred was united in marriage to Ronald Harris, Sr., on April 28, 1979.  He brought two sons, Ronnie and Randy, to this marriage.  Ronald passed away on February 26, 2003.  Mildred loved her family and would do anything for them and also loved her cats.  She dedicated her life to them.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Donna (Ray) Gudith and Kimberly (Justin) Myers; step-sons, Ronnie Harris, Jr., and Randy (Mary Hartwig) Harris; grandchildren, Sonya Myers, Geoffrey Myers, Christopher Gudith, Jessica Taylor, Scott (Jessie) Harris, Brian Harris, Willie (Lacey) Harris, Ashley Holdsworth and Truckee Harris; 14 great- grandchildren, as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Mildred is now reunited with her parents; her husband, Ronald; her sisters and brothers, Mary Hollingsworth, Janice Lanman, Richard Haines and John Haines; and her son-in-law, Justin Myers.
