Nadine Brouwer, 94 of Grinnell, formerly of Montezuma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Mayflower Health Center in Grinnell. As was her wish, her body will be cremated and a private burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery at a later date. A visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Nadine Louise Brouwer, the daughter of John and Daisy (Short) Johnson was born on October 18, 1930 in Columbus, Indiana. Following graduation from Columbus High School, Nadine moved to Iowa and lived with her aunt Vivian Richman Keller and was employed as a waitress at the Monte Cafe. In 1950, Nadine was married to Gary Brouwer.  To this union six children were born: Andrew, Kevin, Douglas, Kelly, Kimberly and Tina.  Nadine worked at Sutherland Printing and Sig Manufacturing in Montezuma. Following her retirement, she spent ten years residing in Palm Springs, California before returning to the area and living in Grinnell.  She enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, DIY projects, gardening, bicycling, crossword puzzles and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren activities.  She was a very skilled seamstress and enjoyed spending late nights at her sewing machine.

Nadine is survived by five children:  Andrew of Palm Springs, California, Douglas of Palm Springs, California, Kelly (Norma) of Waco, Texas, Kimberly (Rex) Bushong of Brooklyn and Tina Hartman of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, Jason Blackfox, Kevin Brouwer Jr, Elissa Brouwer, Briana Brouwer, Lucas (Nichole) Bushong, Blake (Danielle) Bushong, Marisa Bushong, Lilly Bushong, Cambri Hartman; and six great grandchildren. Nadine also leaves behind her two sisters Virginia Johnson and Janice (Larry) Waltermire of Columbus, Indiana; along with many other relatives and friends.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Royce Johnson and Norman Johnson, sister-in-law Virginia M Johnson, a son, Kevin and a grandson, Tony Farrington.
