Nancy Vitera Barnard, 62 of Montezuma passed away Tuesday evening, October 6, 2020 at Unity Point Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, October 12, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma from 2:00 to 4:00 pm with the family present. Memorials may be directed to the family in Nancy's name to be determined at a later time. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Jo Barnard was born on November 26, 1957 in Oskaloosa proud parents were Jimmie and Joan (Olin) Vitera. Nancy was with the class of 1976 from Montezuma High School. Nancy was united in marriage to Randy Stephenson which she was bless with three children: Shane, Joey and Nikki. While their marriage wouldn't last forever as they hoped, Nancy and Randy remained friends.

Nancy had worked several places, Casey's in What Cheer and later in Grinnell as assistant manager. By 1995, Nancy started working at Montezuma Manufacturing, well into her career, it was at work where she met her second husband, Bob Barnard. Bob had three children from a previous marriage: Drew, Jessica and Jimmy, who Nancy raised as her own. It was like the Brady Bunch but this became the Barnard Bunch. Just recently retired, Nancy put in 25 years at Montezuma Manufacturing a few weeks ago due to health reasons. To know Nancy, she wasn't ready to do so as she was hard worker who enjoyed her job and took pride in what she did, giving it 100%.

Nancy had a passion for cooking. Everyone loved being in her kitchen if it meant a meal. Her other passions were drawing, Iowa Hawkeyes, music, dancing and being outdoors in the summer in her pool with her grandchildren. Her greatest passion is the love she had for her children and grandchildren whom she was so proud of. Her life revolved around her beloved family. Very proud of her grandson, Caden Campbell, for being accepted at the University of Iowa, which he is attending college. Her life revolved around her beloved family and friends. Nancy loved everyone and had a big heart, she was the life of the party, her wit, charm and personality not to mention her sense of humor and she loved making people laugh.

Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt and was loved by many people. She will be truly missed and a void in her family and friends lives. Left to cherish Nancy's memories are her loving children, Shane and Jamie Stephenson of Montezuma, Joey Stephenson of Grinnell, Nikki Stephenson and Nick Taylor of Montezuma, Drew Barnard of Waterloo, Jessica Barnard and Jhiro Cryptor of California and Jimmy Barnard and Sara Sharkley of Grinnell; her husband, Bob Barnard of Montezuma; one grandson, Caden Campbell; eight granddaughters, Aubree Campbell, Lillian Stephenson, Lexis Stephenson, Lyvia Stephenson, Brinley Stephenson, Jaylyssa Barnard, Sadie Warner and Olivia Simmons. Also surviving are four siblings, Bob Vitera of Grinnell, Cindy Northcutt of Lynnville, Sally Vitera of Grinnell and Julee Hendrickson of Grinnell along with many nieces, nephews who she dearly loved. She will also be dearly missed by her dog, Marylin Monroe (Emmy) and her close childhood friend Tina (Malloy) Skates.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Joan Vitera; paternal grandparents, James and Lula Vitera, maternal grandparents, Paul and Julia Olin and her first husband, Randy.
