Neil Carpenter, 54, of Sigourney died Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date. Neil Scott Carpenter was born February 11, 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Maurice and Charlotte Smith Carpenter. He was a 1983 graduate of Amador High School in Sutter Creek, California. Neil later attended a vocational college where he prepared for his life long career in Auto Detailing. Neil was previously married to Mavis Williamson and to this union is a son, Daniel Lawrence Scott Carpenter. Then on January 28, 2009 Neil was united in marriage to Cheryl Carnahan in Lebanon, Missouri. He was a proud member of Riders Protecting All Children. Neil enjoyed traveling with his wife Cheryl on his motorcycle. He also liked most anything to do with sport, working on his house, working on cars, fishing, and being ornery and joking around with friends. Above all Neil enjoyed just hanging out at home with his loyal friend Makya and spending time watching his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Carpenter; and a brother, Mike Carpenter.

Neil is survived by his wife, Cheryl Carpenter of Sigourney; his mother, Charlotte Carpenter of Hayesville; two sons, Daniel (Candace) Carpenter of Gassville, AR, and Eric (Maleah) Carnahan of Sigourney; a daughter, Amanda (Shaun) Gillam of Sigourney; two brothers, Mark (Lori) Carpenter of Aberdeen, SD, and Brian (Elsa) Carpenter of Tracy, CA; his nine grandchildren, Alivia Carnahan, Maverick Gillam, Ashlynn Gillam, Emily Short, Paige Carpenter, Tony Mell, Junior Mell, Tyler Johnson, and Oriana Rios. Neil also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
